The Lord knows our Weaknesses

Sermon Topic: The Lord knows our Weaknesses
2018.03.04
Scripture: Hebrews 4:14-16

Introduction
For we do not have a high priest who is unable to empathize
with our weaknesses, but we have one who has been tempted
in every way, just as we are—yet he did not sin. (Hebrews 4:15)
“My Lord and my God!” (John 20:28)
The Lord Jesus Christ followed the Father’s will.
And was handed over to the people. (Acts 2:23, 7:52)
He carried the burden of mankind’s sin,
threatened and faced by death,
and He prayed to the Lord to save him from death.
The Lord has mercy for our weakness.
It was the Father’s will to redeem the world (Abraham’s descendants)
and for Him to obey, a winning victory.
And, salvation.

Firstly, Jesus Christ knows we are weak (Hebrews 4:15, 5:7)
“Since the children have flesh and blood,
he too shared in their humanity…” (Hebrews 2:14)
“The Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us.”
(John 1:14)
Often suffering in worry. (Isaiah 53:3)
And, it is not that he cannot hear our prayers. (Isaiah 59:1)
The Lord provides our needs.
(Exodus 16:13-15, Matthew 6:11, John 6:1-14, see Psalm 37:25)
The Lord gave us a promise of peace.
“Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you.
I do not give to you as the world gives.
Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.”
(John 14:27)
“I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace.
In this world you will have trouble. But take heart!
I have overcome the world.” (John 16:33)
The Lord pray to the Father to provided his children
from the evil one. (John 17:15)

Secondly, only He is without sin. (Hebrews 4:15)
“For we do not have a high priest who is unable to empathize
with our weaknesses, but we have one who has been tempted
in every way, just as we are—yet he did not sin.” (Hebrews 4:15)
Jesus, the Son of Man, was in the wilderness for 40 days
and while suffering from hunger He was tempted by the devil.
The Lord said, “Away from me, Satan!”
For it is written: “Worship the Lord your God…” (Matthew 4:10)
“He committed no sin…” (1 Peter 2:22)
Later on, He fulfilled the cross’s salvation.
“For Christ also suffered once for sins,
the righteous for the unrighteous, to bring you to God…” (1 Peter 3:18)
Before his crucifixion, He was tried.
Pilates said “I find no basis for a charge against this man.”
(Luke 23:4, Matthew 27:18)
Next to the cross, there was a cry of a robber.
“But this man has done nothing wrong” (Luke 23:41)
Jesus died on the cross, making an appearance after his resurrection.
A centurion and those with him said,
“Surely he was the Son of God!” (Matthew 27:54)
Christ dedicated himself to God as a sacrifice
for eternal atonement. (Hebrews 9:12-14)

Thirdly, Jesus Christ has saved you and I. (Hebrews 5:9)
“..once made perfect, he became the source of eternal salvation for all
 who obey him” (Hebrews 5:9)
The Lord Jesus Christ is a merciful and faithful High Priest.
“For this reason he had to be made like them…” (Hebrews 2:17)
The Lord has mercy for our weaknesses and personally shouldered our sin.
“He himself bore our sins” in his body on the cross,
so that we might die to sins and live for righteousness…” (1 Peter 2:24)
The Lord has walked through the Valley of Death for His people,
setting a feat for you and I before the enemy (death).
(Psalm 23:5, Hebrews 2:14, 15)
The Lord has risen, believers can have eternal life (Romans 4:25)

Conclusion: By relying on the Son of God,
we can come before the throne through the Father’s grace.
(Hebrews 4:16)
